Katie White OBE has today launched her campaign to be selected for the new Leeds North West Parliamentary seat for the Labour Party.
Katie received an OBE at the age of just 32 for her services in fighting to make the Climate Change Act.
Born and brought up in Adel, which remains part of the Leeds North West seat, Katie is a passionate campaigner with a proven track record of fighting for others and winning.
Katie White said:
“It would be the honour of my life to be selected to be the Labour candidate for Parliament and represent the area that I grew up in and advocate for the passionate, hard-working residents who deserve someone who will fight for them and have their backs.
“I genuinely want to make a difference, deliver change and play an integral role in rebalancing and restoring our country. The Labour Party is the party of change and I intend to ensure that the change happens for the good of all in Leeds North West.
“I have been a campaigner for over 20 years, and now is the time for me to take my experience to Parliament and use it to ensure that my constituents have a voice and proper representation. Otley & Yeadon, Adel & Wharfedale have been served passionately by Alex Sobel MP since 2017. However, Guiseley & Rawdon and Horsforth wards that are part of the new Leeds North West seat have had a practically non-existent Tory MP; they deserve better, and I will deliver that for all wards.
“Inspiring the next generation of change-makers is also deeply important to me. The country faces huge challenges. I want my children to know that I have and will continue to stand up and make a difference. I want to enable the next generation to understand that barriers can be knocked down and that their voices will be heard. I intend to show that with energy, commitment and teamwork we can improve lives and society now and in the future. I am not only leading by example but intend to empower all to help make the change we all desperately need.
“And with that, I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Labour Party Parliamentary nominee for Leeds North West."
